Mrs Bailhache, Miss Phillips, Mrs Sheldon Amos and Mrs Laura Ormiston Chant pictured at the case brought against the Empire Theatre's promenades in 1894. Mrs Ormiston Chant, a social reformer successfully challenged the theatre and had its promenade abolished, believing it was a 'habitual resort of prostitutes in pursuit of their traffic'.
