Date 1947
Description The Big Freeze of 1947
Details

An aerial view of Gozhill, near Barton-on-Humber which lay under a thick mantle of snow after the blizzards of January and February 1947, during one of Britain's worst winters. Lincolnshire and Northern England found itself with blocked roads and choked supply routes during the period. High winds, which continued to prevail after the snow fell, caused drifts which in some places reached a depth of 10 feet.
