An Illustration attempting to reflect the growth of the British Army, Navy, overseas and the industrial forces, during the years 1914 - 1916. The British army increased eighteenfold and the British navy two-and-a-half fold, the output of munitions increased more than thirty thousand per cent. The finance of the Empire had mobilised, and the Imerial Government has sustained the money-power of the Grand Alliance by loans to her Allies and Dominions aggregating ú450.000.00. In one year of peace she spent 173.000.000 sovereigns; in one year of War she spent 2.382.000.000.
