Confederate scouts with percusio caps for the garrison of Vicksburg, running the Federal pickets. The garrison at Vicksburg held out for 6 weeks before it fell to the Unionists on July 4th 1863. Confederates are seen under cover trying to get back to the garrison with ammunition.
