Picture No 10217753
Date 21st April 1908
Description The Cook Polar Expedition at the North Pole 1908
Details

Photograph taken by Dr. Frederick A. Cook showing his igloo and Inuit companions, Ah-welsh and Etukishook, at the North Pole. A debate has long raged over whether it was Cook or Peary who first reached the North Pole, but it seems that Dr. Cook had a good claim to be first.
