Men’s tearoom at the Institute for the unemployed, City Road, Manchester. The kitchen provides soup, bread, hash, rice and milk, with the men being served a thick slice of bread and butter and a dish of tea at half past five everyday. A copy of the Illustrated Times, in which this picture appears, lies conspicuously on the table.
