Description The Election Campaign in Full Swing
Details

Some curious scenes from the General Election campaign of 1910. The top left picture shows David Lloyd George making his way over the back wall of the Queen Hall Skating Rink in Peckham to address an overflow meeting. The top right picture shows Neil Primrose, son of Lord Rosebery soliciting a Labourer's vote, the middle right picture shows Mr A.W. Black, Liberal candidate for the Biggleswade division discussing political matters from his bed after undergoing an operation for appendicitis. The bottom picture shows Sir William Bull, the Unionist candidate for Hammersmith punching a member of the crowd who had repeatedly called him a 'lying lawyer'. On being criticised for his behaviour, Sir William replied that he was 'an Englishman before a gentleman'.
