The Georges Philippar, still on fire. The fire broke out on the maiden voyage of the luxury French liner, it took three days before the vessel sank. Amonst the survivors, Mme Valentin, reported smoke pouring from a commutator in her cabin. 676 passengers were rescued, by the British steamers, Contractor and Mahsud, and a Russian tanker, Sovietskaia Neft.
