The 'Great Eastern' steam-ship on the stocks at Millwall shipyard. Built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, at the time of her launch in 1858, she was the largest steam ship in the world. Considered a commercial failure as a passenger ship, she was involved in the laying of the Transatlantic cable in 1865 and 1866 and eventually scrapped in 1888.
