Description | The Inauguration of the Campanile, Venice 1912 |
Details |
The inauguration of the new Campanile in the Piazza San Marco on St. Mark's Day, 1912. The old Campanile had stood on this site from the sixteenth-century until 14th July 1902, when it collapsed. The new Campanile is an exact replica of the collapsed version, with five bells to mark the hours of the day, the holding of the Grand Council and any executions.
