An alfresco lunch served during a hunt meeting of the Devon and Somerset staghounds, showing several ladies and gentlemen seated on the ground around a picnic. Food is being taken from a large picnic basket while wine is being opened. The Victorians popularised the picnic turning it into an elaborate and fashionable social occasion.
