Picture No 10821670
Date 1914
Description The London Motor Bus at the Front, WW1
Details

London buses in use at the Front to transport British infantry soldiers who are pictured hurrying to fill the gaps in the Armentieres-Ypres line in November 1914. The moving of troops was one of the premier purposes of the buses on the front, though the incongruity of seeing them in the war-torn landscape was a novelty.
