Description | The massing of war columns |
Details |
When the First World War broke out, newspaper readers thought there would be a constant stream of new information to keep them up-to-date with everything. The caption here reads: '...though the papers have been full of interest, the actual war news has been scanty, and [the reader] often finds himself reading in the late special the same item that he read at the breakfast table. Moral, if you would see the war read 'The Illustrated London News', 'The Illustrated War News' and for the lighter side, 'The Sketch'.
