Description | The Old Curiosity Shop, Quilp mocks the figurehead |
Details |
The Old Curiosity Shop by Charles Dickens, first published in the weekly serial Master Humphrey's Clock from 1840 to 1841 and then as its own book in 1841. 'Is it like Kit - is it his picture, his image, his very self?' cried the dwarf. The malicious hunchbacked dwarf moneylender, Daniel Quilp, sees in an old battered ship's figurehead the likeness of Kit Nubbles, while Sampson Brass, Quilp's attorney, stands off as far as he can.
