A sketch from the monthly ladies fashion pages. The evening dress (back) is made of silk, the colour of violette de Parme, trimmed with fluted silk plaiting of a slightly darker tone. The head dress is made of violets formed into a crown from which descends two light barbes of white and black lace. The second dress, 'robe de visite' is made from dark puce velvet trimmed with black silk. The high neckline is finished off with a lace collar, matching the cuffs. The bonnet is very light green velvet, trimmed with shaded feathers and white lace.
