King Faruk and his Queen standing together on the balcony of the palace; only one of their many appearances to satisfy the demands of the loyal Cairenes and of the thousands of people from the countryside who had flocked into the city in order to greet the royal bride and bridegroom. The unofficial celebrations continued for several days.
