Description | The Royal Dolls by Angus McBean |
Details |
Dolls in the form of the royal princesses, Princess Elizabeth (Queen Elizabeth II) and Princess Margaret Rose, together with their younger cousin, Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, which aroused much interest when they were displayed at the British Industries Fair in February 1938. Manufactured by Chad Valley, they had had permission to make a doll of Princess Elizabeth since 1930 and had remodelled her from time to time as she grew older. Royal visitors to the stand, the King and Queen, as well as Queen Mary commented on the likeness of the dolls and the Duke of Kent was overheard to remark on the model of his son that is was, "just like the boy."
