Description | The Royal Oak - Queen Victoria and descendents family tree |
Details |
A spectacular family tree produced by The Illustrated London News to mark the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887. The beautifully drawn oak tree is hung with portraits of Victoria and Albert, their nine children as well as numerous grandchildren and, in some cases, great grandchildren. With her children and grandchildren making dynastic matches into other royal families, no wonder Queen Victoria was known as the Grandmother of Europe. The addition of illustrations of Westminster, London and India symbolise the span of the British Empire during her reign.
