Wedding cake at the marriage of Princess Louise to the Marquis of Lorne in 1871. Made by Queen Victoria's chief confectioner at Windsor Castle, the cake measured 5 feet, 4 inches high with a diameter of 2 feet, 6 inches. The based was decorated with white satin, bearing coats of arms, the initials, 'L.L' entwined with blue, wreaths of orange-blossom and small vases containing the same flowers. All the figures and ornaments were of sugar. The presentation cakes for the Royal family and 300lb of wedding cake for distribution were made by Messrs. Gunter and Co. of Berkeley Square, London.
