School children's 'strike' of 1889, which started in the East End of London in imitation of the Dockers strike that year. The children shown were marching under banners such as 'No cane', 'Shorter hours' and 'No home lessons'. The strike later took hold of the children of Edinburgh, Dundee, Middlesbrough and West Hartlepool.
