Guests at the spectacular Shakespeare Ball held at the Albert Hall in June 1911. Four thousand dancers were present 'clad in dazzling garments, and they included representatives of all that is proud and predominant in Debrett.' Noted figures here in extremely prescriptive Shakespearean costume are Count Benckendorff, Gen. Sir Ian Hamilton and Lady Ridley.
