Details |
Advertisement for The Showboat in Maidenhead, a club offering a swimming pool, sunbathing, cocktails, dinner, dancing, cabaret and sports. Built in the early 1930s at a cost of £21,000, the club was part of a movement to provide the upper middle class with out of town clubs and roadhouses a short drive from London. It was used as a services club and then a spitfire parts factory during the war. At the time of writing, this once splendid art deco building is due for demolition to make way for residential flats
