Description The Steep Nature of the Shore Ice Edge
Details

View demonstrating the difficulties of landing during the 1912 expedition to the South Pole. The barrier edge is perpendicular and is was only possible to climb from a boat if a portion of the edge happened to be broken down. Photographs to accompany a narrative sent by Captain Scott, although it was published after he and his four colleagues had died, unbeknownst to the public.
