Description | The Summer Manoeuvres. Route Marching- 'Fall in!' |
Details |
A form of Peace Manoeuvres adopted by armed forces to exercise troops and allow them to make up plans of the countryside that they march in. They march for between 8 and 10 miles in 2 1/2 hours. The 78th Highlanders or Rosshire Buffs have halted to allow the men a brief rest and some have asked leave to 'fall out'. They take advantage of an inn near by but this catches the eye of superior powers and a sergeant and corporal are despatched to bring the delinquents back to the ranks; the bugle signals the 'fall in'.
