Marshal Francois Bazaine's Army marching out as prisoners of war at the surrender of Metz during the Franco-Prussian War. After a siege of 70 days Bazaine's French forces surrendered to the Prussian Army. It was felt that Bazaine had not resisted enough during the siege and was later imprisoned for treason.
