Description | The War-horses in hospital 1915 |
Details |
Suffering and mortality among the British army horses during the South African war led to the complete reorganisation of Army Veterinary Corps (A.V.C). Fully equipped mobil base hospitals were set up to help badly wounded horses. The strain on the Mobile Veterinary Sectio, during the first few months of the campaign became to great, and in November 1914, the Army Council invited co-operation of The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (R.S.P.C.A).
