The royal party descending the steps of the Church of San Geronimo in Madrid following the marriage of Princess Ena of Battenberg to King Alfonso XIII of Spain on May 31st 1906. Shortly afterwards an anarchist threw a bomb at the royal couple's carriage. Ena and Alfonso escaped injury but 20 people were killed and countless others injured.
