Three ages in the development of the Bicycle: on left, 'The Dandy of pre-historic times' - an early 19th century bicycle, without pedals, propelled by foot. On the right, 'The Bone Shaker of the middle ages' - bicycle from the mid 19th century, with pedals. In the middle, 'The Ariel of Modern Times' - a 'Penny Farthing' bicycle from the 1870's.
