Trial of various anchor designs, held at the Royal Dockyard Sheerness. This trial was held in the presence of mercantile shipowners and an Admiralty committee, in order to test the 'holding' power of a number of anchors. These included the New Admiralty, Aylen's, Rodger's, Mitcheson's, Honibal's, Isaac's, Lenox's and Trotman's improved Porter anchor. Trotman's anchor was declared the winner.
