The United States frigate, Constellation, with relief stores and provisions for the relief of Irish distress, in Cork Harbour. Extreme hunger among the Irish peasantry was brought on by the potato famine in the mid 19th century and further compounded by the forced evictions of poverty-stricken peasants from their homes and farms.
