Unity Valkyrie Freeman-Mitford (1914 - 1948), fourth daughter of Lord and Lady Redesdale. Unity famously supported the Nazi party and in the period leading up to World War II, spent a large amount of time in Germany, often in the company of Adolf Hitler who she developed an obsession with. In 1939 following Britain's declaration of war on Germany she attempted suicide by shooting herself but she survived and was sent back to the UK to recover. Unity died in 1948 aged 33 after suffering from meningitis. This photograph in the Tatler is accompanied by a caption which describes her as 'A Friend and Admirer of the Fuhrer'.
