Queen Mary and Princess Mary pictured during a visit to the Queen's Needlework Guild at St. James' Palace inspecting the huge number of birthday gifts. Including among this were 102,000 books in addition to money presents exceeding £1600, all of which the Queen decided should be distributed amongst the wounded in the hospitals, the Belgian refugees and war organisations generally.
