Description | What's left?, woman and children waiting for leftovers 1889 |
Details |
A woman and a group of children wait for leftovers at a fishmonger and poulterer's shop. A well-to-do mother and daughter are seen leaving the shop, their backs to the miserable group huddling against the cold, their faces hopeful, expectant, wishing and fearful. The shop owner stands with his hands on his hips surveying the scene as the woman gazes despondently at the food on display, unable to afford anything.
