Description Winter rations for British troops in the trenches 1917
Details

British commissariat methods: Army ration corps supplying hot food to the men in the trenches at the Battle of Arras on the Western Front in France; serving hot stew in bad weather often added very considerably difficulties in transportion to the front lines. Top photograph, where the party of men are seen carrying metal vessels slung between poles, resting on their shoulders.
