Description | Women training to become motor-bus conductresses 1917 |
Details |
Women on a trial trip on a motor-bus as part of their training to become conductresses. The Illustrated London News comments on the war and subsequent need for female employment in jobs not traditionally considered suitable for women, however, goes on to praise the work of female conductresses in London. It also elaborates on the importance of this part of the training as it allows the women to accustom themselves to the movement of the vessels and to get to know the geography of their routes.
