Women working at the offices of the Prisoners of War Information Bureau, located at 49 Wellington Street, Strand, where are record of all British soldiers who were prisoners of war in Germany were kept. The work of filing the various particulars and notifying persons concerned was performed by women clerks. The bureau was run as a Government department.
