Description Wounded soldiers returning home
Details

When soldiers were wounded in World War One they were treated first at an advanced dressing post, then sent to casualty clearing stations, from which hospital trains and ships bore the "lucky ones", back to 'blighty'. During World War One, soldiers with serious enough wounds that require recuperation away from the trenches, but not serious enough to kill or maim the victim—was hoped for by many.
