Photograph showing Canadian soldiers inside a captured German U-boat pen at Boulogne, France, 1944. On either side of the dock are lifts, which had been used for raising U-boats (submarines) out of the water. Boulogne was captured from Nazi forces on 22nd September 1944 after a siege lasting several weeks.
