Description WW1 - British rescue boat and German U12 submarine survivors
Details

WW1 - While on patrol off the east coast of Britain on 10th March 1915, U-12 were hunted down by three Royal Navy destroyers, HMS Ariel, HMS Acheron and HMS Attack. The submarine attempted to dive under the surface but was rammed by Ariel. U-12 then surfaced and was shelled by Acheron and Attack. The German submarine sunk off Scotland in 1915 with the loss of 19 lives. As shown in the illustration, a British boat rescues the remaining survivors.
