WW1 - The 'Lusitania' belonged to the Cunard Line and was one of the largest liners in the world. She was sunk off the Old head of Kinsale by a German submarine when shipping passengers from America. Only about 700 on board were saved out of a total of 1,906. It has been said that this crime was an act to mark the beginning of more rutheless submarine warfare.
