WW2 - A Kurdish Company of the Iraq Levies: these local men who accompanied the British forces and collaborated with them in their attack on Rashid Ali's troops at Habanniya Aerodrome. "These men have thus demonstrated in convincing manner their loyalty to Britain". The Iraq Levies distinguished themselves in May 1941 during the Anglo-Iraqi War and were also used in other theatres of the Second World War after 1942.
