WW2 - Paratroop Tribesmen of the Iraq Levies in their traditional tribal costumes before going on leave from the R.A.F. station where they are training. All members of tribes (including the Kurds) renowned for their fighting skill and courage. The Iraq Levies distinguished themselves in May 1941 during the Anglo-Iraqi War and were also used in other theatres of the Second World War after 1942.
