Description | Zeppelin engine gondola |
Details |
A scene in the rear gondola of a German Zeppelin airship. In the centre, two engineers are tending the powerful Maibach motors. To the left is a look-out and machine-gun operator, ready to repel any attacking aircraft. Above his head is one of the large radiators for the water-cooled engines, and at his feet a fire extinguisher. To the left of the look-out is one of the propeller shafts. To the rear of the gondola can be seen the reserve steering apparatus, there in case the steering gear in the forward gondola is disabled.
