Prince Imperial seen on board ship in civilian dress, with binoculars prior to arriving in Zululand. Despite the reservations of the British army, the Prince was sent as an observer during the Zulu wars. His impetuous nature meant that he flauted convention and took part in a number of dangerous missions. He was eventually killed by Zulus while on a reconnaissance expedition.
