Children on a Street
Details
A group of working class children, black and white, playing together on Crown Street in Canning Town, London, E16. Some of the mixed race children featured are Vera Graham, b.1925 (front row, on the right, with hat); Edgar Graham, b.1922 (next to Vera); Violet Graham, b. 1924 (next to Edgar); Sidney Graham, b.1920 (second row, third from right). Crown Street was known locally as Draughtboard Alley to reflect the diversity of the families living there.
