At the bottom of a stairway to the sky
she dances en pointe
arms raised towards the stars –
a goddess lifted by her Prince
to dizzying heights, bridging her body
over the moon, to meet the sun
on the other side. She flows gently
back to earth, stretches high on her toes,
arms open wide, expanding fingers
to gather in her applause.
