Fi Burke is a visual artist and writer based in the East Midlands. Her practice is diverse and ranges from large-scale site-specific installations that fill spaces with poetic reflections to concrete poetry and artists’ books. She has been described as a visual philosopher, creating representations of meditations through imagery, words, and sometimes both. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, with recent works in The Royal Academy, Cork Street, and the Royal West Academy. Fi’s curiosity leads her on many a philosophical journey and the unique way she processes these ‘travels’ results in poems and artworks which emanate calm and tranquillity, but which often hold within them a question. A fascination with nature, time, history and philosophical science feed Fi’s practice. Her work gives a voice to the silent, and a materiality to the marginal. In recent months, Fi has been developing her poetry skills: “Poetry gives me the ears to hear myself, to listen out for mother natureâ€. www.fiburke.com
