Collection of the week: GP Archive

Petrolheads awake! Not only does the 2019 Formula 1 season rev into action this Sunday with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, but this seemed an opportune moment to wave the chequered flag over the GP Archive, an incredible photographic resource recording the post-war history of motor racing.

Founded by collector Paul Vestey and motor racing historian Doug Nye, the GP archive's coverage includes major-league racing in Formula 1, World Championship sports cars, top-quality 'nuts and bolts' shots, and contemporary sporting personalities including British racing legends such as Jack Brabham, Graham Hill, Stirling Moss and James Hunt. The collection brings together work by several photographers including Geoffrey Goddard and Nigel Snowden and there are a number of colour images going back as far as the 1950s.

Click here to see a selection of edited highlights from over 1100 images forming this dynamic collection. As always, if you have any questions, or would like a quote or picture research, please call us on 020 8318 0034 or email pictures@maryevans.com.
