Collection of the week: Historic Royal Palaces

Historic Royal Palaces looks after some of the greatest palaces ever built, including the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House and Kensington Palace. The image collection builds a unique picture of royal and court life over several centuries, and encompasses architectural drawings, costume, paintings and frescoes, satirical cartoons, portraits, and photographs of palace occasions. If you want to know what the Groom of the Stool's key at Hampton Court Palace looked like, what King William III was wearing in the 17th century (green stockings!) or how the Tower of London would have appeared in the 13th century, this is the place to come.
