Collections Crossover: Making Movies |
There is more to making movies than the people we see pretending on screen, so this week's Collections Crossover pays another visit to our film collection, and is a humble tribute to the 99% of personnel who make the films, but remain behind the scenes, and behind the camera. We've a plethora of images of directors, from big hitters like Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan and James Cameron or legendary names such as Alfred Hitchcock and David Lean. There are arthouse auteurs and masters of quirk such as Tim Burton, Nic Roeg, Wes Anderson, Sally Potter, Peter Greenaway or Pedro Almodovar, as well as much-loved British geniuses; Ken Loach, Mike Leigh and Danny Boyle. There are far too many to list but here is an edited selection of over 200 of film's finest masterminds with many more online. Let's think next about all the artistic input that goes into a film production, from storyboard artworkers and set design to special effects, screenwriting and film scores. Click here to see the likes of costume designers, Edith Head, Sandy Powell and Adrian; film score composers Hans Zimmer and John Williams, pioneering cinematographer, Billy Bitzer, make up artist William Tuttle and many more. Then there are the organisers and planners - casting directors and producers, the studio chiefs and all-powerful movie moguls - the people that get things done. You want them? We've got 'em. Here are a few. Finally, the unsung heroes of the silver screen - the stuntmen and women who risk it all so we can enjoy cinematic thrills, and A-listers can walk away unscathed from death-defying scenes. We also couldn't resist including a few furry friends - and their trainers. These selections offer just a snapshot of the 1.5 million images covering all aspects of film, which are available through our representation of the combined collections of Ronald Grant Archive, Everett Collection, Allstar, and, exclusively, Studio Canal. Remember you must be logged in and linked to a client account on our system to be able to view the majority of film imagery. Drop us a line at pictures@maryevans.com or call 020 8318 0034 if you need a hand sorting that out. Have a great weekend. |
